Long Books

I sincerely enjoy reading long books. There is something intrinsically satisfying about finishing a volume of 600 pages, or completely immersing yourself in a sprawling family saga. It’s like a multi-course meal with a variety of flavorings to offer, and of course I am a glutton for good books.

I noticed on the WordPress page a link to a list of the 10 longest novels in the English language, and of course had to click through. The only two I had even heard of were Atlas Shrugged and Clarissa, neither of which I have a great desire to read. In fact, I think the only one on the list that I would consider picking up is Miss MacIntosh, My Darling by Margeurite Young.

What are some favorite long novels worth reading? I’d give a vote to R. D. Blackmore’s Lorna Doone, for one.
