Finds at the Used Book Shelf

I was returning some books today and can never leave the library without pausing at the shelf of used books. Mostly it’s Danielle Steel and other such books that are discarded after being read, but today I had two good finds in hardcover:

Time and Trouble, by Gillian Roberts. I didn’t recognize the title and picked this up assuming it was one of her Amanda Pepper mysteries. It turns out to be the first book in an attempted grittier series featuring P.I. Emma Howe and her new assistant.

The Foreign Field, by Cynthia Harrod-Eagles. I’ve never read any of the Morland Dynasty books, but other bloggers seem to really enjoy them so I thought I’d pick it up to try sometime. This is one of the latest and set during WWI.

Not bad for a dollar apiece–I noticed that the Morland book is going for $20 used on Amazon!

  1. I;ve started a new meme, Dollar Finds, assuming that some of us lucky ones are able to find books every now and then for $1 or so. Hope you can join in.
